Device Repair Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions apply to all repairs and related services carried out by I Love Gadgets. By submitting your device for repair, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the following terms. Nothing in this policy limits or excludes your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair-Trading Act 1986

All repair workmanship includes a 30-day limited warranty from the date of invoice. This warranty applies only to defects directly related to the repair carried out. The warranty does not cover accidental damage including drops, cracks, liquid or pressure damage, misuse, tampering after repair, software issues unrelated to the repair, new faults not connected to the original repair, water-damaged devices, battery life performance or battery health degradation, or devices that have previously been repaired by another technician. The store reserves the right to inspect any device before approving a warranty claim.

Customers are solely responsible for backing up all data before submitting a device for repair. I Love Gadgets is not responsible for any data loss, corruption, or software failure that may occur during diagnosis or repair. This includes but is not limited to factory resets, software updates, logic board repairs, storage failures, or devices that are non-functional on arrival. Data recovery is not guaranteed unless specifically agreed to in writing prior to repair.

The store is not liable for pre-existing faults, hidden damage, internal board faults, or structural weaknesses. Devices with prior repairs or internal damage may fail during the repair process due to their condition. If additional faults are discovered during inspection or repair, customers will be notified before further work proceeds.

Any repair requiring the device to be opened will void the manufacturer’s waterproof or dust resistance rating, including any IP rating. I Love Gadgets does not guarantee waterproofing or dust resistance after repair.

High-quality compatible or aftermarket parts may be used unless otherwise agreed in writing. Genuine manufacturer parts may be available at additional cost. Customers acknowledge that screen brightness, colour tone, battery health readings, notifications, or other performance indicators may differ from original manufacturer specifications when compatible parts are used.

Minor cosmetic marks, slight colour variations, or small frame marks may occur during the repair process and will not be considered faults or grounds for dispute.

Upon collection, customers must inspect and test the device to confirm that it is functioning to their satisfaction before leaving the premises. Once the device leaves the store, it is deemed to have been accepted in working condition unless an issue is recorded at the time of collection.

Devices not collected within 30 days of notification that repairs are complete may incur storage fees. After reasonable attempts to contact the customer, the store reserves the right to dispose of, recycle, or sell unclaimed devices to recover costs as permitted under New Zealand law.

Assessment or diagnostic fees apply even if the customer chooses not to proceed with the repair. Devices will not be released until all outstanding balances have been paid in full.

To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, the store’s liability is limited to the cost of the repair service performed. I Love Gadgets is not liable for indirect, consequential, or financial losses including loss of income, business, or opportunity. The store is not responsible for manufacturer defects unrelated to the repair performed. Nothing in this clause excludes liability where it cannot legally be excluded under the Consumer Guarantees Act.

All accessory and device sales are final and no refunds are provided for change of mind. Exchanges for faulty items may be permitted within 48 hours, subject to inspection. Screen protectors, tempered glass, and waterproof cases are not covered under warranty unless faulty at the time of purchase. Refurbished devices include a limited warranty as stated on the invoice.

The store maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy toward verbal abuse, threatening behaviour, harassment, or racist remarks directed at staff. Police may be contacted where necessary.

By submitting your device for repair, you confirm that you are the legal owner or authorised user of the device, that you have removed SIM cards and any required passwords where applicable, that you have backed up your data, and that you accept these Terms and Conditions in full.
